What Does a Mental Health Crisis Look Like?
A crisis can look different for everyone. Some signs may include:
-
Thoughts of suicide or self-harm
-
Feeling unable to keep yourself safe
-
Intense panic, fear, or hopelessness
-
Feeling disconnected from reality
-
Experiencing abuse or violence
-
Being unable to care for yourself or your children
-
Emotional distress that feels overwhelming or unmanageable
If any of these describe your current situation, immediate support may be the best next step.

What is PTSD? Should I seek help?

It's normal to have upsetting memories, feel on edge, or have trouble sleeping after a traumatic event. At first, it may be hard to do normal daily activities, like go to work, go to school, or spend time with people you care about. But most people start to feel better after a few weeks or months. If it's been longer than a few months and you're still having symptoms, you may have PTSD. For some people, PTSD symptoms may start later on or symptoms may come and go over time.

Trauma Can Feel Like a Crisis
Trauma responses can sometimes feel overwhelming and urgent. Flashbacks, panic, dissociation, intense fear, or thoughts of self-harm may require immediate support beyond what a retreat setting can provide.

If you're unsure whether your symptoms require urgent attention, consider speaking with a mental health professional or contacting 988 for guidance.
Quick Self-Assessment
Ask Yourself These Questions
In the past few weeks:
â–¡ Have you had thoughts of ending your life?
â–¡ Have you wished you could go to sleep and not wake up?
â–¡ Have you felt unable to keep yourself safe?
â–¡ Have you made plans to harm yourself?
â–¡ Have you attempted suicide in the past?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, especially the last three, we encourage you to seek immediate support through 988, your therapist, or emergency services.

Is Grief to Grace the Right Next Step?
When to Consider a Grief to Grace Retreat
A Grief to Grace retreat may be appropriate when:
✓ You are physically safe
✓ You are not in immediate crisis
✓ You have some stability and support in place
✓ You are ready to engage in intensive healing work
✓ You can participate fully in a group retreat setting
If you are currently in crisis, we encourage you to seek immediate support first. Healing work can happen more effectively when safety and stabilization are already established.
